Sofía Marmolejo Vega is a Colombian visual artist and designer based in Canada, working across digital painting, concept art, and environmental design. Her practice focuses on worldbuilding and storytelling, drawing inspiration from Colombia’s landscapes, biodiversity, folklore, and traditions. Through stylized environments, character designs, and sculptural elements, she creates immersive fictional worlds influenced by contemporary animation and video game aesthetics. Alongside her digital work, she also incorporates crochet and knitting, using textile mediums to explore texture, narrative, and wearable items.
Sofía primarily works with Procreate, Photoshop, and 3D digital sculpting, while also incorporating traditional techniques when the project requires it. Her process blends observation with imagination, reinterpreting real places and cultural narratives into spaces and stories that feel both familiar and fantastical.
Sofía is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia. She aims to continue developing narrative-driven visual worlds for animation and game design, bringing forward stories that celebrate identity, environment, and imagination.
